At first my tank had low GH after I removed the driftwood wood and my Caridina shrimps died. After trial and error to see what caused the GH dip, it turned out to be the removal of that driftwood.

That driftwood wood is much darker in color than the other driftwood I had. It reeked around GH 5. Which means the water will only stay at GH 5, no less or more.

The other driftwoods also reeks GH, around GH 3. Which means the water will only stay at GH 3, no less or more.

Just curious what do you think caused that GH? Meanwhile I will be doing a test on Calcium and Magnesium (GH is supposedly caused by Calcium/Magnesium) tomorrow to see if its Calcium, Magnesium or others.

It won't be the driftwood coming out that results in a GH dip. It must be something else, or the test kit is faulty. And what is reeks? That part I don't understand.

Habitually driftwood will have influence lowering the KH of the water by consuming carbonates.

The only time I saw something like that (GH) was because the piece of wood was used many years in very hard water, then moved to a soft water tank... The wood raised the hardness of the water for a couple weeks then it stopped.
