Hello. I just bought a clown pleco for my 37 gallon tank. I have read that they really like driftwood but I wasn't sure if I could just add it in from the beach or if there is some way to clean it so it is safe to add with my fish? If someone could let me know that would be awesome. Thank you!!

Don't get it from the beach, the salt from the ocean may kill your fish/plants. Although you can get driftwood from lakes and streams. I have a piece from an Ecuadorian river and a piece from a creek in the mountains. You can also get them for about $5-7 at your LFS. Just to be safe scrub and soak it to get it clean.

Panaques are wood eaters, get some nice soft wood in the tank ASAP. They also will chow down on vegetables.

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated. Will get him some wood this weekend. He seems very content right now. Have been feeding him algae flakes and he loves hanging out in my plants.
