my dad was going to use his monster 50g for a marine reef, but ya'know what? he called today, and told me it was too expensive.

Me: So, what're you going to do with it?
Dad: Just a tank-tank

xD i'm going to explode with happiness! a 50g tank, all to myself! my dad is only insistent on having plants and Neons in his tanks, otherwise ammer gets a free-for-all fishie day :D

so, what fish d'you think would go with Neons? i, personally, prefer the oddball aggressor or playful fish, i'm not one for floaty-drifty types. perhaps a school of Australian Blue-Eyes, an trio of playful Betta-Grrls, and a Red-Tailed Shark would be nice?

how about a nice school of black skirt tetras very common cheap and easy. (at least in my area :alien: )

Cardinals are cute and look very similar to neons. I have my neons with glow lights and danios. They get along really well. You can get long and short finned zebra danios, long and short finned gold danios, long and short finned blue danios, long and short finned leapord danios...... That's a lot of danios.

Hi BettaBoyz :D

What wonderful news! I'm so happy for you!

There are so many nice fish, it will be hard to choose. But, let me suggest a favorite of mine that few people seem to talk about on the forum.

Blind cave tetras are fine fish, not to big: 3" tops, They are assertive but not aggressive, and are particularly interesting because they evolved from fish that were trapped in dark caves for many generations and as a result they have no eyes. Despite this, they have no trouble getting around and finding food because their other senses have developed enough to compensate for this lack. There is nothing at all delicate about these fish; they are quite sturdy. They never fail to get the attention and admiration of observers. :D Three or 4 of these are a nice group.

:) i was thinking of the Cavefish, my dad had some once and said they were incredibley interesting little things. but i'd really like to get some of the Australian Blue Eyes if i can. so Cavefish and ABE's, but if i can't get the ABE's would some neat little Dwarf Puffers be good? i can't find them in my fishie book, so i haven't got a clue about them

how bout some male guppies, here there cheap, and there interesting!

nothing to big coz neons are small, get some , or anything, up 2 u though!

I think that puffers are brackish. You'll get better info on puffers and many other odd fish on the oddball forum. I have blue ram, they area great fish but you need pretty good water conditions. In 55g you'll have room for a pair of krib. Loaches look cool. I 'd love to stock another tank. lol

well before I link every fish in the world have a look at this site. They have a huge fish index, sizes and diet etc. The fish are also broken down into peaceful to aggressive.

Sounds like you have a great Dad!

I think cardinals look too similar to go with the neons. You end up paying too much attention to the differences between them. Some livebearers would be nice looking. Some nice platies or swordtails go well with almost anything.
