DP's Not Eating Snails....

Mine never eat their snails straight away and I often find empty shells the next day. It could be that the snails are too big for the puffs to eat whole so they're just sucking them out of the shells?

yeah i agree my little ones often leave a trail of devastation in the form of empty shells

Also, don't expect them to eat MTS or Nerites. They prefer Pond or Ramshorn.
They will eat MTS, I have fed MTS before with no problems, as with all snails size determines if they crush the shell or just suck out the head.

Mine didn't eat them until I started crushing them before feeding, they soon learnt that it was food and how to get into a whole one. A guideline is to feed snails where the shells are the size of the puffers eye...which is tiny for DPs so I regularly fed larger.

Careful with MTS, their shells are harder than your usual feeder snails and one day the shell might be stronger than your dps teeth...

Ill take my chances with MTS thank you, like I said, dp's arent stupid, if its too hard or big they just suck the head out.

So sick of hearing "careful with MTS" you will find plenty who feed them with no problem including me.

I don't feed MTS to my DPs but I have MTS living in the same tank. The snails were there before the DPs  No problems so far (touch wood).

My DPs will eat MTS by sucking the meat out of their shells if they dare come out of the gravel  . They only attempt to crush snail shells (any type) if the snails are small enough to fit between their teeth, which would be quite small.

Slightly crushing the baby snails before feeding them to your DPs might help but make sure you take them out if they are uneaten.
