ive been wanting to make one for ages now, even more so since i started noticing that my 3 girlies had been nipping at my guppys! (they had always all got along fine, but i think its just that the guppys are gettin more colourfull with age now.)

Anyways, its a 10gallon, 24" by 12" by 12" tank, which im gona have an undergravel filter in, so that the water doesnt run to fast for my lil princesses.

Ive gona use a mixture of coloured gravel, lots and lots of live plants, a few ornaments to make hiding spots, and a few attifical plants, incase the live ones arent enough for them to hie in.

Ive already got 3 loverly princesses, and im not planning on gettin anymore, until the tank has settled, and i have watched the 3 girls alone to see how friendly they can be to each other, but im thinking of moving my salt and pepper corys over into the new princesses tank with them, and mayb get a few panda corys to go back in with my male betta, Mr Purple.

awsome, i set mine up not to long ago and despite a few tecnical dificultys its not to bad, i have a hanging filter thogh and i juts switched to fake plants -_- good luck

Cool! I'm working on cycling a 10 gal for my girls. I have 6. I hope that's not too many for a 10 gal. I have lots of fake plants, and some caves. I'm working on growing some live plants in there, I hope they'll hold up ok. I havn't had much luck with live plants lately. I have plans to go to Lowes sometime this week to get some pvc 90's and couplings. I'm gonna silicon some fake plants to them, and stick a suction cup on them to hook them on the side of the tank for a few more hiding spots.

Great Idea!!

Id neva thought abt using suction cups on the back of things to make them stick to the sides!

I think 6 would be a problem, but only if you didnt do regular water changes, and have a bunch of girlie who all get along.

thats the thing i worry abt most with my 3 girlies, is if they will get on aswell as they do now with the guppys, wen they are in a tank just the 3 of them. although there will be a small golden nugget pleco, and sum salt n pepper corys in there aswell.

u will have to take lots of pictures and show me the outcome of your diy hiddy holes.

If you don't go over the 1 inch of fish per gal on a cycled tank, you shouldn't have much problems. Their diet would be the only thing that would affect this. Just be sure to do a gravel wash at least once a month.

UPDATE!!!!

I know i sed that i wouldnt buy any more girls, an that i would just let the 3 i already have settle, then see if they needed any more playmates, well, i went to the shop, and fell in love!

i'd neva seen double tail bettas in real life, and so wen i saw that the LFS had abt 10 females in, and abt half of which were double tails, i had to have 2!

their so loverly, 1 of them is a light turquise, and fairly small, and the other is abit bigger, darker turquise! and they both have double tails! i was so excited with them!

ive been at my bfs this weekend though, so they have been in a breeding net, just til 2day, wen im gona take them home to the tank ive been setting up for a few weeks. but im just so surprised with the smaller of the two of them, the tank their currently in (inside the breeding box) is a community tank, that has a male betta in it, and the smaller of the two females in the breeding box keeps jumping out of the box, to go swim around the tank with George (the male) hes not laid a fin on her, he just looks at her abit funny n lets her swim with him! i keep putting her back, but shes a horror for gettin out! so i dont worry as George isnt hurting her, just hopin that she doesnt get to upset wen she goes home 2day to her new tank!

has any1 else ever experienced this ? ive neva known of a male betta ever be friendly to a female, and not want to mate or flare!

Dont worry though, shes been put back in the breeding box everytime ive caught her swimming in the main tank, so shes neva in there very long, just wondered if ne1 knew wot was goin on.
