I've had Platydoras costatus, Striped talking catfish/Raphael catfish,
Fishbase - Platydoras costatus. He was about 25cm and had a really large appetite (and tummy). He swam around the tank mostly at night and lived behind a bogwood during daytime. Loved shrimp pellets. I had to sell that rather large tank and he moved with it.
I had also Amblydoras hancockii, Talking catfish/Raphael catfish/Blue-eye catfish,
Fishbase - Amblydoras hancockii. He was about 10cm and really cute, wasn't that active, but made a lot of noises if I moved him.
And then, of course, Agamyxis pectinifrons, WHite-barred catfish/Spotted raphael,
Fishbase - Agamyxis pectinifrons. He was about 15cm and absolutely beautiful. I bought him from a fellow hobbyist with Amblydoras hancockii and they both were adults at the time.
All of them love food and good hiding places and the smaller ones seem to like company. You don't want to get your finger stuck between the body and pectoral fin. It really hurts. They make croaking noises with the pectoral bone or swim bladder, usually when you are moving them. You shouldn't catch them with a net, btw. They have lots of thorns (well, thorny catfish) on their body and they could get really stuck in the net. Large buckets are best way to catch these fish. Or catching them by hand, but then you really need to know what you're doing.
