Hi,

Recently i introduced 2 tiger barb into my 34l tank along with 5 tetras and a couple of small, old goldfish i've had in there for a while. They all seem to get along quite well until this afternoon when one of the tiger barbs just seems to have stopped being sociable and stays among the plants. The other tiger barb is very active and was constantly chasing the "ill" barb around yesterday - I assume I have 1 female and 1 male. I have thought about introducing another barb into the tank to help the issue but I don't want to overcrowd it.

Could anyone help me with what is up with my tiger barb. It doesn't seem to move alot - not like the other one. the tank is running well and i have no other problems with any of the other fish.

I'm half expecting to find it floating on the top in the morning.

Any help will be grateful.

Regards Sheree

Tiger barbs need to be in a bigger groups, how many goldfish are in the tank, plus which type, also can you post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Well tiger barbs aern't colwater fish so either you have them in a coldwater tank with the goldys(which would explain why the barb is not looking too great) or you have goldfish in a tropical tank, which in that case is bad news for the goldfish as it will mess with their metabolisms and slowly kill them.
Either way though goldfish and tiger barbs don't mix, tiger barbs also need to be in groups of at least 6 as they are agressive schoooling fish that in groups too small, their agression amoungst each other is not very well despersed and you will end up with them picking on each other too much, which will result in death unfortunatly.
Personally i would rehome the barbs as they are not good community fish and will have issues with the goldfish, you should try and do somthing about the goldfishs situation as well if they are in tropical tank temps  .

I agree with everyone else tiger barbs like to be in large groups and if the goldfish have long fins be careful tiger barbs like to bite long fins.
