I wanna build my dog a kennel my self. (havent got my dog yet, getting either a border collie or kelpie :D ) And i wanna no if anyone else here has built one/gone into building one be4.

Trying to work out how big it should be and how to build it atm, any advice would be appreiated.

i didnt build mine but we couldnt find one big enough for two german shepherds!(they dont live outside they live inside but they needed one for on a nice day if we go out then they can sit in it :) )
so we went to a warehouse and bought a nice sized shed. Then put in a carpet and stuff like that.Fixed water bowls onto the side etc. Then we put a stable door type thing on it.So that we can keep draughts out if we shut the top door. And they seem to like it.They have alot of space even though theyre rarely in it! :dunno: And it was quite cheap :)

but i dont think it will be too hard to build one.Although ive never done it myself.

edit to add:
you should make it so the dog has room to move! And has enough space to lie down and stretch out.
I heard that double the length of the dog somewhere but im not sure its true.

Hopefully this kennel is just for the dogs when they go outside and they will still live inside. But it should be atleast 4 times as big as the dog, so he/she has enough room, and if you are planning on putting more than one dog in it at the same time make sure there's more room. And you should have a dog house in there. I'm not sure where your'e from but Pennsylvania law says that you must always have shelter for a dog.
