Dog Agility

oooh! :D

What dogs do you have and how long have you been doing it? xx

Not long. I do it with my 2yr old Golden Retriever. I trained him myself. He was a horrible jumper at first, and now he can jump 22-24" and he over jumps everything. He LOVES it.

Hi guys

Me and my wife Netty do dog agility. I've been competing for about 6 years and Netty about 5, thats how we met.
We have 6 dogs, 5 of which compete. Border Collie grade 6, JR grade 7, Whippet x grade 5, two Border terriers grade 3 & 5.
I've also been judging for three years as well.
Not doing too much with them this year but will be going to supadogs in Kent at end of May.

Netty is at a breed show today and won her class with the younger Border terrier. I'm waiting to hear about the group result.

Both the border terriers are qualified for crufts this year. Not long to go now.

I'll get some pics and post

Cheers

I would love to take our collie sam but there is only one place near me and that is over twenty miles away which is annoying to say the least lol if there was somewhere local to me then yes we would be doing it straight away

Have a look at the website below. It has an A-Z list of clubs.....you never know there may be one nearer that you just haven't heard about.

Yeah, been doing it for about 10 years, since I was 10 years old :). I'm in the US so I compete in AKC. I've got two border collies. One is retired as she's 14 and the other is 8, but really out of practice as I'm in college so its kinda on hold except in summer. I love this sport!!!

Lol Nottsfishy, you must be in the UK. 20 minutes is close where I live!! :) Good luck though, hope you find someplace you can practice. You can always make your own jumps out of pvc and play in your yard though :good:

You should be careful with large dogs like retrievers. They can develop all sorts of joint problems from jumping too much. Smaller light weight dogs have fewer problems from jumping but retrievers just aren't designed for it.
