Does Using Cat Litter Cause High Ph?

As topic, Does using Cat Litter cause High PH? i got told on another forum, just wanted peoples knowledge or experiences of using it.

no it doesn't, it may lower the GH some what, but not much because it Isn't in direct contact with the water.

Some people use it as plant substrate. It goes under a layer of gravel.

It makes a decent substrate and is far cheaper than the same clay packaged as a plant substrate. You can't use just any cat litter but people do use the kind with no additives, just plain clay particles. On a side note: it is also useful for cleaning up small spills of oil on the garage floor. Just sprinkle some on the puddle and sweep it up.
