..........start thier post off in it with some useless comment?

It REALLY bugs me!

I see no point in it at all, but people seem to just use it because it is there.

There must be someone else that feels rage everytime they see something useless written in it?

I do think it is useful in classifieds section for putting location in, but a lot of people dont! lol

:nerd: Hmmm, I never notice this. Could you give an example? :dunno:

I wouldn't want to upset any individuals! But you can easily see examples by browsing the forums!

BTW I did it on purpose in my first post to show what I meant in case anyone comes along and says "well you did it!!"

I thought that the title of the thread and the content of said thread made it obvious?

:p

it just seems like you are letting something really insignificant bother you...

Nope- it is a great way to filter out posts. On average when I log on and hit new posts I get between 125 and 175 new posts listed. There is simply no way I want to read them all, especially the ones that I have no experience with- such as the salt water ones since I have never done marine tanks. Here is my system for deciding what to read.

I look 1st in the reply column- anything with over 5 replies I totally ignore since after 5 posts most additional replies get lost imo. If there are 5 or fewer posts I then look to see what forum its in, if its in one I tend to be able to contribute to, i then look to the title and description. if they do not clearly state the nature of the subject.problem I will also just skip it. That means if a thread topic says "Sick Fish" it is so broad and unspecific as to be passed over and I move one to the next title. Now had the post said something like "Angel with Fins Rotting" I would be a lot more likely to look at it.

That additional line gives an OP the chance to provide even more info about the thread than the title alone may allow. If one wants to maximize the responses they get, they should make an effort to write their thread title and secondary info specific enough to let potential responders know what it is about. I do not get annoyed when I see "useless" info, I just move on to the next thread.
