Does Emulsion Paint Fumes Effect Fish ?

I need to emulsion small sections of the the walls of my fish hut that were affected by dampness but now sorted.
I plan to do the painting on a dry day with the door open and a fan blowing.
All the tanks have lids and the small sections cut out for the airlines are plugged up.
Will this be okay ?

I *think* matte paint (which is usually water basedish) should be fine, but gloss usually gives off quite nasty fumes.
