Hello, I have had marine tanks in the past and currently I have an 85 gal freshwater tank going. I would like to have my next tank be a reef tank, specifically a 34 gal Red Sea Max for the convienence of the "all-in-one"

I would like to hear feedback from those who OWN one. Some pics would be great if you have any.

Thanks in advance!

Hi I have a RSM and I love it if you want to ask specific questions then please feel free. I would add a pics but I’m suffering from a breakout of bryopsis so tank looks really untidy. to set it all up its very very easy equipment all seems upto the job , only thing i find is the temp can get quite hot in the warmer weather . I'm looking at upgrading to a larger tank as i want more fish. I think the RSM is great as a starter aquarium or if you have limited space. If you want to know anything else please feel free to ask.

Thanks for the reply.

One specific question I have is: Is the filter sufficient? In the past, I have never liked "All-in-ones" because I like to go overkill with certain things such as filtration. For example, I would never buy a filter rated for 50 Gals for a 50 Gal tank, I would buy one rated for 100 Gal.

This affords me the ability to be slightly overstocked (I can't help myself it's a disease  )without having to worry about taxing the filter.

I am always nervous that they may skimp on this feature.

Are you happy with it's performance overall?

How easy is it to maintain?

I really like the clean lines and the convienence of it being a "Plug and play unit"

Thanks!

I dont use the ceramic, or sponge media RSM supply I have approx 18-20 kg of LR as my filter all i have in the section at the back is a small filter floss skimmer and a bag of seagel and of course the pumps. overall the tank is very easy to maintain and I'm very happy with the performance. also forgot to add there is a small pop out panel in the rear for a chiller but you could easily use it for an external filter , which I did at first.
