Does A Snowflake Eel Hibernate?!?

I have a 72 gallon bowfront tank with 100 pounds of porous Fiji live rock. I had a Snowflake Eel for 4 months and I thought he died! After 2 months he appears out of nowhere 3-4 inches longer! Has anyone ever experienced this before?
