hiya!
i was wondering if i should get a heater for my 2.5g lagoon betta tank? if so what kind? and how much is it? our house is at a constant 72-73 F. thanks

Ya, bettas like heat. It's not totally necessary but a good idea. Wal-mart has heaters for 6 bucks that say for tanks 2.5 gallons.

My house is kept at a lower temp than yours, and I've found that my betta in his Little Lagoon does just fine. He has 2 cories in with him also, and they're doing great also. I do leave the light on sometimes to warm it up, but usually it's not even necessary. Bettas like their heat, but aren't as picky as other fish. I'd say he'd be fine, but it's your desicion.

Bettas like warmer water...79 to 82 degrees. So it'd be a good idea to get a heater. Wal-mart junior heaters are ok, but you have to be very vigilant about using that heater as it's a preset heater w/no controls except plugging it in. Or you can go for a 25 watt heater, just make sure it's not a preset control heater.

i keep my place slightly cooler than that, and i don't heat my betta tanks (the junior heaters are nice, but as said, you can't set the temp, and the suction cup isn't the best so the heater can touch the side of the plastic tank, and could melt it.....), and they do just fine. i'm sure they'd prefer to be a bit warmer, i've noticed they are less active now that its cooler than they were in the summer time.

im probably gonna get a heater if i can find one for that small of a tank, i'll look at wal mart. thanks guys
