Dodgy Neon Gill

Well was looking into the tank tonight and noticed one of my neons had what appeared to me to be a dodgy gill, where on one side it looked normal and the other side was gaping a bit so I took a pic:

Then as I was looking through older pics of my neons I noticed that it was probably the same neon which appeared to have the gaping gill: (I swear the pics below are months apart from the one above even though they are taken in the same spot )

So is this a deformity? Or injury

Not sure if its an injury or a deformity could be either but if its got this far and is eating well enough certainly looks healthy to me then i wouldnt worry

Birth defect or damaged while shipping. Not at all serious, but it won't grow back.
