My pair of BN have been in the same tank together now for about 2 months, and my 2 1/2" male has snubbed my 2" female's attempts to woo him!!! :-(

I have had a terracotta pot in there for them. but they have never bothered with it.

Yesterday the male has dug out all the sand from under one of the rocks and keeps sitting in there, only really coming out to eat. The female does look a bit plumper!

Do you think that they are finally ready to breed? There are certainly no eggs present at the moment. I am going on holiday on saturday for a week, so hopefully I might come back to some babies!!!!

Here is a pic of what he has dug!!

mine do that all the time as they change the hiding places all the time as a result of him shifting the sand away is so he can get further in to a good hiding place i always know where mine have been as i see a mound of sand

and tbh 2-2inches is a bit to small for breeding

cheers dane

what you nead are some nice slate caves for him to call home :) :)

Dane - did you get yours ? should have been with you today :)

I use ceramic cones that work quite well. I had a spawning in one and am hoping for another soon. Slate caves are supposed to be good too.
