All pics taken sat 16 May 2004 Dublin zoo. It was quite hard to catch the guys in a solemn mood, the sun was beeming down and everyone was having fun, most of the time....
They are actually very happy there, they have really great facilities for the Orangs and Chimps, they are as good as 'Monkey World' the specialist centre for rescued primates in England. The Chimps have their own Island and are kept in a large family group, just like in nature.
The Orag enclosure could do with more climbing and swinging facilities but I think it is being upgraded. Anyone who has worked with rescued Orangs will tell you that it can be hard to get them used to the wild after a life in captivity, its great fun for them for awhile, then they kind of wander back to the humans as if to say' that was great, can I go home now?!'
