hello all, we've all been there, bought a good cheap tank only problem no stand or lid.
been searching the net but the one for you 3x2x2 or your 6x2x2 costs more than your car to insure a year!!
dont fret dont panick!
a friend of mine suggested a brill idea, her daughter is taking wood work at school (secondary school/comp) etc etc and then the topic went onto fish tanks, so me being me said go down the school and ask the tech teacher if he'll make a lid for you, she didnt want to be cheeky and declined the idea, but it got me thinking, would they actually mind? so i popped down during morning break, seen the woodwork teacher and he said he'd be delighted as he can involve the class too, but as its for outside school purposses he'd have to charge meterial, have tank measurements, lighting, and anything that involved airlines and filter pipes etc so he can make grooves and holes. a pick of the tank with a general setup idea was taken and given, the class designed a few lids (for their course work). then the work began, 1 week later and £30.00 (£20.00 meterials £10 school fund donation) it was finished and fitted and looked amazing finished to a high standard, they even used plastic hindges made in a machine thats on school campuss, beachwood was used and they even put some old florescent skylight reflectors on the inside from having upgrades in some of the classes, though that was the idea of my friends daughter, cant see any screw heads all have been covered up, and properly sealed all over. the lid has fantastic handles (for those with fat fingers) made of plastic and has a fish etching picture one the top of them.
so if your outa idea's theres one for you go to your old comp! see what they can do.
