Last night I gave my BN (he is about 2 inches) his first prawn. Its just one of those peeled small ones you get from the deli in the supermarket.

I stuck it on a fork with his cucumber. I have never seen him so active. As soon as I put it in, he was all over it (I have never seen him actually eating before other than algae). And today he has just sucked and sucked at it and also at his cucumber. I think I have made him really happy.

Anyone feed their BN's or other plecs prawns and stuff???

Also, I have been in hospital for 2 weeks, and have only come home last night and I cannot believe his growth. In 2 weeks he has easily grown 1/2 an inch and got wider. Whatever my husband was feeding them must of payed off. My BN's name is Bristie and he is our favourite.

i give mine a prawn maybe once a week. they do love it.
you know you can feed them courgette, deshelled peas etc etc

should have a look on plecofanatics, lots of good advice about plecs.

I feed prawns to mine, but be careful to remove them next day, because they can get buried in the substrate and they go bad very quickly. I was diggin around in my sand the other day and up popped a fluorescent bit of probably 2 weeks old prawn (honestly was like fluorescent pink)

Mine love them as do the tetras and danios, even the mollies will have a few nibbles, and if the Betta can get in then he will stay next to it having a few bites every now and again.

yep that is true, i start a cycle on a new tank with prawns and it only takes 2 days for them to go totally mank.
so do remember to take out whats left.

Yep, I feed him zuchinni (I think thats the courgette) and peas from my vegie garden too. My guppies and blue ram LOVE peas.

And I better remove it soon then if its going to go bad. I am just intrigued watching him eat it all morning long.
