I would never trust my friends to feed my fish ever. Please tell what you voted on for both questions and tell why you don't trust them if you voted no.

Usually my mom does it, because she loves watching my fish. She's a good learner, especially when her teacher is someone 32 years younger than her...
That makes her sound old.....hmhmh.....

If I have a chouice between my friends feeding them, or having them diet, I let them diet.
They could use it...

My family have been wonderful with my fish. They understand what they mean to me. My friends, on the other hand, are not quite convinced. My friend has trashed my tank I think, like 3 times, well 2 Christmas trips and one Summer trip, so yes three times. She meant well, but she has no experience, but she is very nice and is the only one who will even watch my apartment, without question. I'm going to have to teach her how to do a water change for Christmas, I've just worked so hard to make my planted tanks work, I don't want it to fall apart. She will also have to know just what constitutes a feeding. A "pinch" is relative. It could be perfect, or it could be way too much. In addition, she may have to dose ferts. So, I may actually pay her this time, which is why I answered yes to that question in that part of the poll. I think that may motivate her to not kill my fish. At least I hope so. I really want to take these guys home with me in May, they are great fish!

No doubt about it, however, my bettas are coming home for the Holidays! I can't leave my little men. :-(

I never go away for long (thank god,) and when i do i always have my friends do it, cuz my family tends to be a bit irrisponsible and like "...theyre just fish..." abouit them, especially my sister. she can be a bit of a brat, and even if she killed my fish she'd be like "theyre just fish, GOD" and storm off... (would you ever guess im the youngest? :grr: )

soo yeah.... i once trusted a friend, but she forgot..... completely.... luckily i was only gone for 3 days. Oh well.

i voted yes i trust them but no i wouldn'tpay them as its a favour and would be returned.

the trick i do when going away is measuring out daily food portions in ice cube trays and cover in clingfilm. not even an idiot could get it wrong when feeding

i don't even bother if i'm just going to be gone for 3 days or less. dieting is good for them!

but i've had my boyfriend feed during long breaks; he doesn't overfeed any more than i do  actually, i left a couple of tanks in his apartment for an entire semester while i was interning! he did ok... but i was really glad i had plants in there :p

i once had to have a friend come by and add meds while i was out of town  now that was nerve-wracking.

as for payment... i think my bf would be terribly offended if i tried to pay him for feeding the fish  but i covered some electric bills while he kept my tanks.

I trust my friends and family because they are responsible adults. I even make it a no-brainer by pre-measuring the food in week long pill boxes I bought at a drug store. Besides, if they did anything to my fish ... well, let's just say I know where they live. ;)

I said maybe, only because I would trust my dad, but not anyone else in my family, and none of my friends. My mom overfeeds everything, and while that doesn't do anything to the goldfish but make it so they need to be cleaned more often, it would totally kill my bettas due to constipation.
When I do go out of town, I leave a very detailed care sheet for each animal individually, with exactly how many pellets they can have, what the tank temp needs to be, how to do a water change if needed, potential dangers, etc.

I trust my dad to feed them. I left him in charge for a week a few weeks ago. He's the type that wants to do everything just right so it all went well. It's handy to have someone that you can trust to feed them for a short period of time when you need or want to go somewhere.

I let my mom and my older brother feel them since I'm at college and cant lug all my tanks here but I made sure I trained them on what to feed each tank, how often to very the foods, how much to feed them. I even quizzed them!

My dad kept fish when i was small so he knows w hat to do :) my mum, well feeding wouldnt be a problem for her, but as for my little brother (17) thats a no no! He sticks his finger on the top to see if he will get bitten so i think thats all he would do for a week :S cant wait till i get a 150 gallon tank one day and keep JD or oscars... lets see him stick his finger in then

family perhaps, friends and neighbours ...NO!
I was away for a week and had my neighbour feed them. I came back and my 2 Angels were dead. Months later i was away for 5 days and had family feed them and no problems.

Families are good for these kind of things.
They are lovely for trips..... I had my fish go on a diet for 4 days once...Is that unhealthy?
