i'm just wondering does bettas really jupmp out of their bowls??if yes, then what do u guys use to cover the bowls? thx!! )
That's a good point, wuvmybetta. They have an organ--the labrynth--that most other fish don't have.wuvmybetta said:In addition to the reasons mentioned....jumping,air quality, your bettas bowl must be covered to keep the air above his water humid & the same temp as his water. If he's gulping chilly air all day it will cause a respiratory infection.
Mine all have lids that came with their tanks, but I have one oddball in a round bowl (he likes it ) so I use a tupperware round lid that sits on his bowl perfectly
WOW!canis_lupus said:yes they jump! i have all my bettas with lids and i put one of my females in the ten gallon tank and she jumped out! the 10 has a hood and every this she jumped out of the space between the back of the hood and the filter which was about a 2-3 inch space
