bettas. no they dont eat algae. i have never tried feeding wafers. i doubt they would touch them, but they might because there is fish meal in them. feed them hikari betta bio-gold pellets and bloodworms.

i fed algae wafers to another fish in the tank with my betta, and he went up to it, looked at it, and went on his way. didn't want it wut-so-ever.

Mine eat all of the regular meaty foods like bloodworms,brine,blackworms,mysis shrimp,krill and all that good stuff. BUT they also looove this food I buy from my lfs that is basically algae,it also has fish and beef heart,garlic and all the good stuff,they devour it!
