Dogs when they are just about to give birth to puppies get very restless and start rearanging their bed, one thing I have noticed with my other pregnant platy is that its spending a lot of time at the bottom of the tank and also inside the castle in the darkness. There was a few pieces of gravel in it and spotted the platy spitting the gravel out into the main tank, it seems as if she is cleaning the area out.
Can that be a sign that she is going to give birth or is he just a clean freak!

i doubt she will be making a nest, she might just be finding a secure place to give birth, or just hiding from other fish.

They normally do become pretty reclusive before giving birth. Keep an eye out for babies :D
cheers

They don't make nests but they will sometimes hide or become reclusive when getting ready to give birth to help prevent the other fish harrassing the mother as she gives birth (fry are food for other fish). Make sure that you have adequate planting in the tank (preferably something tall & densely leafed) as it will help reduce her stress levels and also increase the frys chances of survival once born by giving them somewhere to hide :good: .
