This is on;y cos I am anxious to put my live rock in!! lol

I have added all the sand, the back is painted and I have added the water today which was ready mixed by the shop

My powerhead has been bought over ebay so waiting for that to arrive. Seeing as the water has gone in today could I put my live rock in Tuesday night even if the powerhead doesn;t arrive for a day or two for example. If water flow necessary I could put the old internal in there without the filter chamber?

I can;t wait!!!

I don't see it as being an issue but the powerhead helps circulate dead area contaminants. SH

Go for it Simon - just put the internal in there for the time being

ps dont forget to move the sand to one side - the rock needs to be on the glass bottom :good:

happy days! lol

I didn;t know the live rock needed to touch the glass bottom. I sound like my 7 yr old now... WHY is that? lol

Well I would not put Rock on the glass I ususally put egg crate on the bottom then add my Rock then lastly the sand my reasoning is this.

If Rock should fall the egg crate should save the glass bottom

The reason behind rock going in before sand is that it stops critters under mining your rock structures and them toppling over

Ah the old egg crate conundrum - I don't use it, others do, I don't like the thought of all that  getting caught under there.

As Morri said, you wouldn't want some sand shifting chappie doing a bit of digging under your rocks would you

I placed my LR on the glass then filled the sand in around it:
1) avoids dead space
2) avoids shifting.
