Do I need to vacum?

Do people vacum (sp?) their plant tanks? I am just using gravel, so it seems like the added nutrients would be good for the plants. Also, the stuff fals down through the gravel, so it doesn't look bad.

I don't "vacuum" my planted tank per say, although I do try to collect some of the debris from the tops of the broad leafed plants such as the anubias and the amazon sword. I'm afraid that if I vaccuumed the gravel it would mess up my plant arrangement.

i vacuum near the base of the plants but not very oftern, just do the rest of the gravel.
