Do I need to call Ghost busters?

My tank is cycled and is now partially stocked. I had to get some carbon granules to clean the tannins from my mopani a bit as I couldn't see the back of the tank!

However, one branch of the mopani has some goo on it. It''s like a semi clear gelatinous lump. It grows very quickly, I rubbed it off and it was back the next day. It'seems more globular in shape than a flat disc. One of my blue shrimp was seem eating it and then a couple of days later I had a dead blue shrimp. Of course that could be coincidence.

Water parameters are good... I just don't know what to do re it.

The white goo on the wood is normal it will go away after a while, Snails and shrimp love to eat it.

There are several types of fungus that can leech out from dry wood when submerged. Some is safe (apparently), but some is deadly toxic. I have experienced the latter, and I knew someone else locally the same. Without microscopic analysis by a microbiologist, there is no way to tell the fungi species apart. Most are white or whitish, mine was. Be careful. I cannot offer more, as you need to ID the fungus and that I cannot do.

I'miss concerned mainly because when I left the goo it developed little orange spots... almost as though it was at breeding age... I think I'll continue to remove it...
It was after the orange spots that I found a dead shrimp.
I feel some research in my future

I put a new bit of Monapi in the tank just because of that algae/fungus my Red Cherry Shrimp go nuts over it
