the cucumber in place for my Pleco.

Can I just cut it up and drop it in the tank?

Thanks.

cos of the amount of water in a cucumber it wont sink just float around the tank so u need to anchor it down - i have something called a 'screwcumber' that goes through the cucumber and weights it down - can buy them in aquatic shops i would think though mine was from ebay.

or just use a stainless steel fork, spoon or plantweight.

edit - courgette is better as well, nutrition wise

edit part deux - what kind of pleco? common?

in the 80 litre?

Honestly you have two options, a bigger tank or return it, it will hit 8 inch before you even know whats happened.

Honestly, I'd think about returning the pleco. 19, 22....what ever. You need more room for him. I have one in a 75 with an Oscar, and he's getting nice and huge...along with the Oscar, but that's a different story. LOL

In short, I had both in a 55 and got a bigger tank, now I'm much happier with the results so far, because the fish are much happier.

As for feeding, just a plant weight or two. I have several tanks of various herbivours, and I just attach some plant weights...and drop them in. Also, don't skimp on the algae wafers. I throw a few in every night, after turning out the lights.
