I stopped dosing ferts in my tanks, and found I had an algae problem - reading around, it seems that if you dose the fertiliser, it keeps the plants in top condition, allowing them to then outcompete the algae for the nutrients in the water. I have now started dosing again.
Hi
depends on quite a few things.Do you have/want a lot of plants? What type of lights you have and how long they're on for?
Fish waste, may provide enough ferts if you get the set up right.
e.g you can grow 'easy' plants like Java Fern & Anubias with low lighting and no ferts.
Whether you need ferts or not really depends on what you want to achieve.
To be honest I'm not actually sure what plants they are ill take a couple pics and post them, there's 9 fish in the tank atm all around 4inchs in size I just want healthy plants as it looks like one of the plants is dying I think the lights are on for around 4 to 5 hours a day
