Hi all I have just got a small pond (25 gallon) and was wondering do i need to have a fillter in it?

I have 5 small Goldfish and have a pump working all the time, will the fish be OK, to live in this unfilltered water?

25g is abit small for 5 goldfish.... common goldfish need 20g for 1 then 10g more for each one after that, so your looking for a pond of atleast 80g. you do need to filter it aswel or it will become polluted quickly.

:good:

Hi, Does the small pond have a pump or anything that will help to airate the water and produce oxygen??

Also do you have any pics of the pond? If you can post a picture, members will be able to give advice better once they can see what kind of setup you have.

Regards
Lawrence

it would be advisable otherwise you will be continuesly (sp) cleaning it out weve got a sunken bath as our pond a small fountain provides water movement to oxygenate it and it also pumps water through a green geenie filter box........it still needs a thoughor clean out 4/5 times a year
