i have a vision 260 and wondering to i have to get a new light system if i want t5 lights or will the work with the origanal lighting??

You may need to change the power supply in order to fit/be suitable for the new lamps that you're after. i.e. the fittings at the end will probably be the wrong size, and the voltage may not suit the length of tube you would like to install.

What do you have in the hood at the moment? T3 tubes? what length and voltage?

The originals can be quite hard to strip out.

its just the standard lights that come with it,not to sure on the watts...
would it be expensive to change over?

If you check on flea bay (item 190280961377) that will fit the Rio 240 & 300 and also the Vision 260.

You'll have to get the tubes on top.

If your after the long term then they are beneficial, however you could put some reflectors on your current (t8's ??) lights.
