Hi,

i have a glass catfish but its been mentioned to me a few times on here that i need more as they stay in groups. I have already heard this but i think im a bit tight for space, what do you think?

I have a 21G tank with...
- 5 neon tetras
- 1 siamese fighter fish
- 3 male fantail guppies
- 1 female guppy
- 1 red tailed shark
- 2 mollies
- 1 glass catfish

Do you think id have room for more, im thinking the space is a bit tight, what do you think?

How long and wide is the tank and how long has it been set up for now?
RTS/red tail sharks and glass catfish, as well as male guppys and bettas/siamese fighter fish don't always make the best tank mates together (RTS can grow up to be too agressive and active for glass catfish, which are easily stressed, and bettas can sometimes attack male guppys due to their often bright colouring and patterning), how are they getting along together currently?
The red tailed shark will eventually grow too big and active for a 21gal (unless the tank is very generous length and width wise), really a 3ft long 30gallon is the minimum for keeping these fish, so this is something you should keep in mind.

I think you can keep them in a 21gal depending on the length and width of the tank, but you may want to change the stocking a bit to make it more ideal for them (which is what i'd advise) . The mollies should really be in a group of at least 3, what genders are yours? I would personally choose between either having the glass catfish or the mollys but not both as otherwise you'd be pushing the stocking capacities of the tank too much considering the glass catfish should be in at least a group of 3-4 or more- unless you upgrade the tank to at least a 3ft long or more 30gal within the next 4 months, i'd probably rehome the shark as well.

Heres a picture of the tank of a website here, im not sure of the exact sizes but i do know that its a 21G. Its been set up for over a month now. I was asked this in another post and i can honestly say that the siamese fighter doesnt bother with the guppies at all. The glass catfish spends his time in the plants and all the shark is bothered about it licking the sides of the tank. So all in all they are all getting on fine. The Mollies are both female but to be honest they dont really stick about together, the balloon molly has always preffered being on her own.

These are all the fish here by the way http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=183156 minus the shark as he wouldnt stay still! I wouldnt be able to get a tank that size at all as im in a flat and only have one room and i already have another coldwater tank and ive ran out of plug space aswell! Im not keen on getting rid of the shark, im quite fond of him. Perhaps then as i said in another topic as should keep them as they are? i was afraid of overcrowding.

Spoke to parents and theyve had fish tanks with similar stock in them before and had no bother.
