i currently keep tropical fish. i was thinking of keeping some goldfish also and wondered weather they required a light.
thanks in advance.

Depends on how much natural light there is in the room. Direct sunlight should be avoided as well. Will you be wanting live plants as well because then you would need some form of lighting.
If fish dont have enough overhead light then they will tend to lean over to try and get the light on the back of themselves and they will also lose their colouring and go pale.
I would get them an over head light.

Yea, id agree, it does wonders for their colour, mine have been living without a light for a few months (i ordered one and it still hasnt come in -_- ) and my Panda Oranda has gone very pale and greyish.. like his black and white have merged and alot of the black has gone.. its wierd
Light is good :D
