I'm thinking of adding to my fishs' diets some fruit, namely apples, peaches, and maybe grapes. Anyone have experience in this area?

In the wild many fish will eat berries that have fallen from over hanging trees and bushes and im sure larger fish will take fruits in the same way. It cant hurt to try but dont leave any uneaten fruit in the tank too long as acids released from rotting fruit may alter the water chemistry.

giving a neon tetra an apple might be a bit hard.lol

I guess alot of fruits wouldn't hurt most fish, but some might so I would consider running it on a trial basis first though before going too full on with anything. Also alot of fruits float so maybe blanch them first and see it that helps them sink? Unless of course you own fish that like to feed from the top.

Most fish love white grapes. No need to peel them, but it helps to split them open.

However, do not try avacado or pineaple, they both contain some unusual natural chemicals that interfere with the nervous system (avacado) and circulatory system (pinapple) of many creatures.

I don't know if it would affect fish, but I don't think it's worth the risk.

Oh, and beware feeding too much banana.. it causes constipation (in humans too!)

True and also wash the skin before peeling and feeding. Bananas are one of the filthiest fruits.

Okay guys, just came back from the supermarket. I have a small selection of fruits in front of me: Golden Delicious apples, red cherries, and Tangerines. Will give you the results very shortly. Stay tuned.

I found out the other day my CLown Loaches go mad for bananas!! Just thought I'd give it a go as I was eating one, so I dropped a bit in, and wham, it was gone, so I sliced a bit off and left it for them, and they stripped it clean in no time!!!
