Hi everyone! I am considering growing one or two moss carpets in my tank and wanted to know if cories would be comfortable and able to find food in the mossy carpet? Thanks!

Probably... I've seen Cory's look quite comfortable in tanks completely covered in riccia ( but I would leave some of the gravel/sand bare )

Ok, great! I'll have some gravel & some moss (unfortunately, I do not have a sand substrate, and I'm a little afraid of having one, because I've read about the anaerobic pockets that can form and the fact that I can't vaccum it...of course, I could be completely wrong, but after I read this stuff, I kind-of marked the sand idea off of my list.)

Thanks so much for your help! :good:

Cory's shouldnt be in a tank with large or sharp gravel as it destroys their barbels. Ideally sand, if not then really fine rounded pea gravel. Some of my Albino Cory love sitting in the plants, oddest thing ive ever seen (imagine cory sleeping in plants at the top of the tank)

If you want sand but are worried about gas pockets there is a really simple solution, have Cory cats and Malasian Trumpet snails. problem solved. Also dont make the sand deeper than about 2 - 4 Inches.

Argos playsand £2.50 for 25Kgs (bargain)

and sand is actually easy to clean, instead of the poop etc falling in between it sits ontop so you just hold the vac an inch or 2 abouve and it sucks up all the rubbish and no sand
