I was planning to take in some unwanted fish which include two "albino catfish" Current owner can't/won't tell me what species. Is there an albino version of common plec and if so
1. How do you recognise them
2.Do albinos grow as big as normal common plecs

Don't want to end up with two huge monsters!

Yes you do, you can usually tell them based on where they were bought from (pets at home etc will be commons) body shape helps as well as they are usually quite ridged like regular commons and yes they get just as big its just the presence of the albino gene.

Well the couple getting rid of their fish won't tell me the species of these mystery albinos so they are unlikely to be forthcoming about where they bought them from. I'll have to confirm size and refuse to take them if they are bigger than 6in,
No they are not corydora they are getting rid of those too, apparently with ragged tatty fins (finrot?)Also not BN as they are giving the Ancistrus to their brother. I know about albino BN as one of my baby BN is an albino.

Ah ok.

Is there anyway that this couple can take a photo and send it to you, of these catfish? Maybe if they do, you could post it on here x
