Fish Crazy
I know this is going a bit overkill on such a small tank but here goes... I have my 90l Orca Tank (It says 80l but I've worked it out to be 90l) going spare and I'm very bored and don't have much to do. The tank was decomissioned as the filter was good but as no water was drawn from near the substrate waste collected too easily. At first the thought occured to remove the back panel and create a small internal box filter (like on Jewel Aquariums). Then the thought of a sump hit me - I began measuring inside and outside measurements of the tank and cupboard.
The measurements of the tank are: W46xD49xH44cm (18x19x17"). Inside Cupborard measurements are: W24xD34xH65cm (9.5x13.25x25.5"). Total Height: 71cm (28")
I then worked out that a: W24xD33xH30cm Sump would be sufficient.
I know nothing about sumps and what pump would be required. I plan on making as much myself to cut down on costs - if it comes to too much I may aswell just buy an external filter
.
If a sump is too much I may make a filter similar to the one supplied using styrofoam to create a rock-effect background with holes that can draw from both the top and bottom of the water.
Thanks for any help you can give me regarding sumps and pumps.
