Does anyone know how too make a sponge filter or a box filter?

][EDIT][-- I just browsed the DIY section, The 5 minute sponge filter i can't do because i don't have an empty food can and don't quite like that "style"

Thanks in Advance, RK

Heres a few you might of found already.

you can make these any size you want, the pic below of the 2*4*6" is recomended for a 100ltr.

I've made a dozen smaller ones for my bette and breeding tanks out of a juwel rio jumbo filter sponges cut in half which are about a £5.

sry this is a little off topic. i was just wondering how do sponge filters work.

As the air bubbles in the tube rise up they push water up with them, water is then drawn through the sponge as it rushes in to replace the water that has been pushed up. Remember that this sort of filtration is biological only and so any mechanical filtration will have to be done manually, ie by regular vacuming. For this reason they are only recomended for lightly stocked species or breeding tanks, or for hospital/quarentine tanks. In community type tanks a power filter which supplies both biological and mechanical filtration is recomended.
