Diy Pvc Overflow

Found this on another site, thought i should post it here. It's an overflow made out of pvc. This way you dont have to drill a tank to use a sump. It's made out of 1" pvc fittings. I plan on using it for my 15 gal future reef. 1" is pretty big for 15 gallons, but i put a ball valve on it so i can regulate the flow. I have not tried it in my tank yet, i still need to move stuff around. I will post back when i try it.

I did not make this design up, i saw it on another site and thought it would help many if i posted it here.

It works!
Works alot better than i thought it would. There are leaks near the valve, but thats because the adapters are threaded, and i didnt glue them or silicon them. I wanted to make sure it all worked before i put the valve on there permanently. I will also make the overflow level, instead of leaning like it is in the pictures. Also will move the sump to the stand next to it, after moving some tanks around. This is just a test run.
Also, when the power goes out it still holds a siphon!

Next time you build it, try changing that 45 degree bend to the valve for a 90 degree bend. Should make the weight of the drain pipe pull the overflow straight down.

I still say you are a girly-man for not drilling though...

Yeah, its all regular pvc. Best to use 1" or smaller.
