Anyone diying thier own ornaments?
Looking or ides, something that little bit diferent

flower pots, coconut caves, granite cobble stones, slate from the local roofer, small child.

Good stuff, thanks.
Has anyone had problems with stuff they've used, anything to avoid?

I'm currently working on a sunken ship, using a wooden model ship. The ones you can buy ready for aquariums aren't realistic enough for me

That sounds really cool. what are you using to glue it together? small amounts of silicone?

Silicone to stick it all together, I've coated the whole thing in aquarium safe paint, applied a couple of layers of concrete, just finished the last coloured layer to give it that rusty barnacle effect. I just need to seal it then I'm going to soak it for a while to ensure nothing is leaching out.

Sounds like a lot of hastle, why not just dump a bit of bogwood in there and go for the natural effect? :)

I've gone down the natural wooden effect, now I'm going for a natural deep sea effect, the back and sides of the tank are painted black, with sand and some rock ornaments, lighting is minimal with a few LEDs to give the ripple shadow effect on the sand etc. They also cast shadows of the rock detail etc, the boat will be the final piece of the jigsaw and fingers crossed be stunning.

I want it to be different and unique, I've researched for similar projects and only found one on YouTube. It's taken weeks to set my tank up to how I want it (I built the stand too) but now its getting there its worth the effort. Boat should be in back end of next week, then I'll post pictures up :)

cause he likes to be different

Thats a good point, i might get some wire coat hangers and construct myself a shopping trolley to give my tank that inner city unmaintained stream effect. boooooooooooooooom
