DIY metal stand what holds 2 tanks

I got a couple questions for you....

Can you weld?
How big are the tanks?
What do you have to work w/? (Chop saws, mini grinders, arc welders....)

If you don't have the actual tools or skills to make a stand out of metal, then look for some industrial pallet racking. They hold a lot of wait and you can create several levels.
Buying this stuff brand new can be pretty expensive but if you're lucky enough to find some second hand then all the power to ya
I actually work a place that sells this stuff second hand :D

lol I guess your maths is as bad as mine

Dexion 1" SpeedFrame is great stuff. I made my old breeding racks from it.

My current stands are made from 40mm 90 degree angle steel, braced with 10mm solid square section braces welded up with a 200A welder. I don't have specialist cropping gear, I cut the steel with an angle grinder mounted on a precision cutting bench - gets angles correct to within 1 degree and lengths to about 0.25mm.

I use bog standard 3.2mm welding rods, although next time, I may try the Murex rods. People tell me they spatter less - can't see how that can be, but they do say so.

Stick welders!! I couldn't use a stick welder for the life of me.

>>> Stick welders!!

It's what I'm used too. Have had the thing for almost 20 years now. A new modern "makes the tea as well" machine may be better, but I'd probably have difficulty getting it out of it's box let alone using it!

heres a couple of quick drawings dont know if u can make head nor tail of them
1 of them is a design i found on net. made out of cencreat blocks and 4"*2" softwood ( il post a link if i find it again )
the other is something i made for a friend, he had 5 tanks on it totaling over 300ltrs 60 + gallon, but u could modifie it to suit your needs, i made something similar to house half dozen 10 gallon tanks for breeding my apistiogrammas
hope it helps

Having both, I've simply got to comment on the welding discussion...

My old Lincoln Electric buzzbox is by far my favorite. There's just something about striking an arc with an e6011 that makes my heart go all warm and fuzzy. But having said that, I also enjoy my MIG. The only real issue I've got in going from stick to MIG is penetration characteristics, with my buzzbox, I can weld 2 pieces of the rustiest steel ever together, and not worry about the joint. On the MIG however, this is not the case. Though you get a cosmetically superior joint, the convienence of less prep usually wins the day (unless I've specially purchased stock to create something, and not just gone to the backyard and pulled from the big steel pile)

Anyhoo, that's my .02...

Anyone good with brazing Oxy Acetelyne style? (it's my 3rd choice in metal joinery)

Heh... Funny that... I've been welding and using O2/Acet since I was about 8. I'm only 23 now... you're not the only one. :D
