ive made a couple of lights this way and they work fine.
firstly you need to build a box ot of wood, it needs to be as long as the tank and about 20cm wide and about 7 cm high.
once you have made that buy some light fittings, just the standared pin style ones that have the power plugs with them. and fit them onto the back by driling a small hole(so the threaded part fits through) and another hole in the same spot just bigger and only half way through. add as many fitting as you wil need globes.
you may need to do some filing/sanding to make them fit.
then put some power compact light globes in, you just chose the ones to suit your tank as long as they have the pin type end on them.
then paint or stain the box to match your stand and thats it.
