What was your total cost on that? What I have been looking at was Power Compact lights. We just started the stand today.

Hood is still at least 2 to 3 weeks away.

i would water proof it... Condensation (think thats how you spell it) It will get wet, i would water proof it asap

lets see.... the three light strips were 8 bucks a pec. a home depot. 24 bucks plus the lights the most expensive thing, four lights was about 12 or 15 a pec. and 2 from homedepot. was like 8 a pec. pluse wood wich was about 10 bucks at the most. so about 110 bucks.

how would i waterproof them? they have been running for about 4 months or mabey more and i havnt had any problmes with them.

are we talking about the lights or the wood here? you shouldnt need to waterproof the light fittings, as long as they're designed for aquarium use, but if you havent waterproofed the wood that thing is gonna rot into oblivion.

A while ago I made a canopy for my friend's tank, it got four coats of weatherproof varnish but i was at her house the other day and noticed it has started to get black mould nevertheless.
