Diy Filter Media?

Hello Guys/Gals

Would like your thoughts on using media
Found around the house? I run a 125 litre
Juwel Rekord freshwarer tank. I use both internal and
A external fluval 305.
Please would you give me and thoughts or
Ideas to what DIY media I could use to fill
Up the 3 compartments as original media
Can be a touch expensive

For an external you could try one of the best biological media of all. It is better than most of the commercially sold media for biologicals. Have a look at some in my external in this picture.

Some people waste perfectly good media cleaning pots and pans with them.
