Saw a post of a diy filter media so I decided to try also. For $6 cad I made 16 filters + 2 bags of ceramic beads for $15 cad.

1. Bought 2 bags of filter fill just fold it at the width then cut it in half. Then fold it lengthwise and cut it in half. Then just cut it to reduce its thickness.

2. Remove the plastic centre from the cartridge that came with the kit.

3.Just stick it all in. Plastic centre first, then the filter media, then the ceramic beads. :no: dunno how effective the beads will be alot of the water moves around it :thumbs:

Not much room to add stuff oh well :)

Poly filter media. Wal-mart Eversoft polyester Stuffing for quilts. Bag is 36'x22'x12' and contains 4#'s of media. Trim to fit. I use it in an A/c 70 and a Rena Filstar XP5. Cost $13CAD. Will last close to forever. Much less than LFS.
Cheers;
