hi all,

i was thinking of makeing a diy external canister filter for my 35g(uk) tank. i was wondering if anyone has advide on what to make it in. i was thinking of this

http://www.lakeland.co.uk/4-litre-lock-AND...9/product/12596

i dont have much space fror relly big containers

i got a powerhead and two bulkheads for the inlet and outlet.

i was thinking of glueing the pump on to the lid using epoxy(powehead 1000)

order of my filter top to bottom

lid
pump
filter wool
carbon
bio ball the small stone type ones
sponge
ceramics
inlet

my main concern is the lid poping off and will the lock &lock seals hold in the long term?
any other things i can add to make the canistor filter better? like a diffrent canister altogether or adding somthing to take air out. jus want somthing simple that will not leak!

thnx :good:

thank peeps...

I went through this last year ! I was going to use a small submersible power head - maybe the top off a cheap internal filter, and put it inside ONE box.
My plan was to use several stacked boxes - each holding different media, the lid of one glued to the base of its "upstairs" neighbour.

Point was, once I had priced all this up, it was cheaper to buy a ready made filter ! So I gave up
