I've almost run out of my discus food and I was about to go shopping to make another batch, but I thought I'd try something different.
How do you make your discus food?
I specifically avoided using the term "beefheart" because it may contain none.
I make it like so:
500g of fish (salmon, cod, whatever is available, I usually get to the supermaket quite late)
500g of shrimp
500g of either mixed shellfish (it was scallops in the last batch) or beefheart
500g of fruit and veg (last time it was banana, pear and mango, I always add banana, good for potassium)
1 teaspoon of astaxantine
1 tablespoon of spirulina
5 cloves of garlic (i actually use garlic extract now)
1 mug of whey protein (at least 75% protein, unflavoured, unsweetened)
vitamins
a handful of freeze dried artemia/bloodworm/copepods or whatever I have
a handful of high quality flake/granules
The meat and fish are ground, not blended, the rest is blended.
All bound together by gelatine.
