Hi

I have recently planted my 75gal aquarium but am not able to get a proper C02 pressure system until 4 weeks from now and i dont want all the plants to die.

So..in the mean time i wanted to setup my own "DIY CO2" with the yeast and all..

Ive checked several websites and each gives me a different ratio of sugar, water, yeast and sometimes sodium bicarbonate.

Does anyone know what the best or standard mix of ingredients is to use?

thanks:)

P.S i hope i posted this in the right spot

ive heard 3 cups of warm water 1-2 tsp of yeast and 1/2 cupp og sugar and a tp of marmite works well

forget about the marmite its english thing and just get a second opinion on ttht recipe before you go ahead :good:

Marmite-Vegemite

I just use 1 cup of sugar & quarter of teaspoon of wine yeast per litre of water, runs well for about 2 weeks but if it slows down & the mix is still sweet to the taste I add a pinch of brewers yeast nutrient & it kicks off again until all sugar is turned to alcohol.

Maybe the Marmite-Vegemite is used as a yeast nutrient!

oh and is it okay to use any type of sugar like brown etc?

Never tried brown sugar, white granulated is only 68p a kilo so I stick to that but I considered brown when I was out of white so hopefully somebody else will answer that one.

haha its all good and up and running now and i used brown sugar as i didnt have any normal sugar and it all works fine

thanks :good:
