I want to make a Co2 setup for my tank and have decided on a DIY project that includes (off the top of my head) 2 2 Liters, sugar, yeast, etc....

Once it is complete does it need a pump or anything? I can't figure out what to do with it after it is built. Do i just run the hose into the tank? of do I have to hook it up to some kind of power source?

Also, are the tablets any good?

Thanks, this board has been great.

Ull need a glass diffuser or a ladder on the end of the tubing to enable the co2 bubbles to dissolve into the water. Ive used both and the glass diffuser is definately better. Place under filter outlet for dispertion around the tank.

Oh or you can make or buy a reactor but these cost more. (these need a pump) I looked into making one but they take up space in the tank. You can get inline one but i gave up to be honest. The glass diffuser does a great job for my tank.

would an airstone at the end work as a mock "diffuser"?

It would but the yeast will get stuck in the air stone and clog it up pretty quickly. I got my glass diffuser for £5 something off ebay with postage and its works a treat.

What is that symbol before the "5" I know it is some type of currency but I need to know what it is called so I can do a conversion. Sorry "$" is the only symbol for money that I know.

Thank you for the reply's.

it depends alot of people use limewood diffusers so if you can get one of these do, they'll be around the $1 price tag i should imagine. the main reson people dont tend to use airstones is because co2 is corrosive and will ventualy reduce it to sand. if you need any more help read both of these websites theyll be extremely help full to the cause :)
