HI can you safely make co2 to put in the tan. i know you can make it from yeast of something but could i have some help

Fermentation produces CO2, so if you make beer...... ! mmmm beer

The DIY method a lot of folk use is to add yeast to sugar water, but trust me.... you WILL swap to pressurised gas sooner or later, and its quite cheap to DIY too ! Mine runs off a small welding bottle of gas, £8 a time and lasts over a year !

2 litter bottle.
seal an airline connector to the lid of some sort.

I epoxied in an airline connector tube

I add 2 cups of sugar and about 1 TBS of yeast. I fill it with water and in a day or so it starts pumping out c02.

I ran my airline into my powerheads intake. this chops the bubbles up real fine and shoots them into the tank.

I had a bubble counter and all that crap on it. I ripped it out and just let it go. it does not pump out a ton of CO2 at once.
and I have an overgrown tank now since I started doing this a year ago.

I have a 30 gallon with 3, 17 watt lights on it.
1 sun glow
1 marine light
1 generic fish light

these lights give off a decent color to look at, and it seems to be growning at a high rate of speed. kind of goes against all things I read on the net about planted tanks.

Ok...so, what I'm trying to figure out is how many bottles I need for a 55 gallon tank. Any thoughts?

I'm going to make a couple of bottles, but any info you have would be cool.

Thanks

i have now done some research from some links. i think 2 bottles will be fine, you can always change the solution if u think it's not enough bit it should do nicely

thanks to all who gave me help on this subject
